New — Already Famed Designer Collaboration: Versace for H&M

Yes, the grand news has been heavily circulating for days; and it seems everyone living outside of a rock knows that Donatella Versace will collaborate with H&M. Despite that a statement released in 2008 conveyed  an  image of that never happening.

The Cut reported back in 2008 that Donatella told the audience at a New York Times‘ TimesTalk series, “I respect everyone who does [those types of lines]. But the reason I didn’t do it is because I work very hard to put the Versace line in the luxury section. I think to put the Versace line in H&M would confuse the brand.”

The Huffington Post

Nevertheless, even with the slightest bit of contradiction or irony, two years later Versace decided to join the trend — tagging along with the likes of Sonia Rykiel who have also collaborated with H&M in the past.

WWD reports that Versace’s collection for H&M will debut November 17 — consisting of womenswear, menswear, and products for the home. However, along with her autumn collection, Versace will create a collection available January 19, 2012 — exclusively sold online in select countries.

One question: Do you think it will be as wild or even wilder on debut day as Lanvin for H&M was?
